Sheriff: SC son kills dad before 2-day drug binge

Authorities say a South Carolina man killed his 68-year-old father with a hammer, then stole money from him for a weekend drug binge.
   
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said Tuesday that 50-year-old Robert Dickerson of Columbia admitted beating his father with the hammer while he was asleep because he was high on crack cocaine and wanted more drugs and he was angry with his dad over things going back to his childhood.
   
Deputies say Charles Dickerson was killed Friday afternoon after giving his son $20 earlier in the day to buy beer. Investigators say another son found his father’s body in a pool of blood Sunday after not hearing from him.
   
Lott says Robert Dickerson is charged with murder and armed robbery. Deputies say he doesn’t have a lawyer yet.
