Newberry man attacked for molesting grandkids

NEWBERRY, S.C.) - A South Carolina man is recovering in a Columbia hospital after police said he was attacked by his children, who think he molested his grandchildren.
   
Multiple media outlets reported Wednesday that Newberry police plan to charge the 54-year-old man after he is released from the hospital. He’s accused of molesting three of his grandchildren and an additional child in the family. Authorities are reviewing the case, but no charges have been filed against the man’s children.
   
Police reports state the man was confronted Sunday night by his adult children and attacked after he admitted molesting the children.
   
He was hospitalized after suffering cardiac arrest and injuries from the beating.
   
His name was not released to avoid identifying the victims. The man is not a registered sex offender.
