MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - One South Carolina beach community has been trying to discourage motorcycle riders from visiting, but another is considering a second rally this year.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reported Thursday that Atlantic Beach is considering hosting a fall rally, based on the success of this year’s rally centered around the Memorial Day weekend.
Myrtle Beach has tried to restrict the activities of bikers, whom officials blame for noise and rowdiness.
Atlantic Beach Town Councilman Donnell Thompson has proposed a fall Atlantic Beach Bikefest this year. Mayor Pro-Tem Charlene Taylor says she supports the idea if it will bring the town more money.
Town manager William Booker has been asked to research the idea and report to the council next month.
No dates have been proposed.
