A man was killed while working on a bulldozer Thursday, according to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office.

The accident happened Thursday afternoon, when a tree fell on a bulldozer at Blackhawk Drive and W. Georgia Road in Simpsonville.

The victim, Charles Walter Kellett, was by himself trying to dig up roots around the tree when it suddenly collapsed on top of him. The impact crushed the track hoe he was working on. He died instantly.

It wasn’t until a dump truck driver returned to the site that the accident was discovered.
It took emergency workers four hours to move the tree.

Kellett’s grandson said his grandfather has been doing that kind of work for years and was always careful.
