Hundreds of mourners gathered around a pink casket to grieve the 15-year-old South Carolina girl killed by officers who say she robbed a store at gunpoint.
The Herald of Rock Hill reports a standing-room-only crowd attended funeral services Tuesday for Yvette Williams.
Police Chief John Gregory has said he thinks officers were justified when they shot Williams last week after she refused to drop her gun. The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating.
Around 100 people gathered Sunday to hold candles, pray and release pink balloons near the spot where Williams was shot.
Williams’ relatives have expressed outrage. Her mother says she wants Rock Hill police brought to justice for her daughter’s killing.
