Elected officials, educators and citizens from all over the state rallied Monday to urge Governor Mark Sanford to lead South Carolina out of the severe jobs crisis in the state.

South Carolina’s jobless rate went above 11% in April, which is the third highest in the country.

Rallies were held at noon in North Charleston, Florence and Greenville.

Nearly 40 people are out at the rally in Greenville, signing a lard card to send the Governor, asking for job creation.

The final rally was scheduled on the Statehouse steps at 5:30.

Speakers include Rep. Anton Gunn, Rep. David Mack, Rep. Anne Hutto and South Carolina Teacher of the Year Bryan Coburn.
