A former aide to U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham has pleaded guilty to taking $280,000 from the Republican’s campaign accounts.

The Greenville News reports 51-year-old Jennifer Adams was ordered Thursday to spend 18 months in prison and pay the money back.

The judge suspended a 10-year prison sentence if she completes five years of probation.

Prosecutors say Adams took the money from Graham’s campaign for several years starting in 2002 when she worked as his campaign administrator.

Graham campaign manager Scott Farmer says the senator is glad justice was done and hopes Adams pays back the missing money.

Adams pleaded guilty to five counts of breach of trust with fraudulent intent over $5,000 and one count of financial identity fraud.
