A federal judge has ordered a psychiatric evaluation for the South Carolina church deacon and youth soccer coach accused of trying to rob a bank.

U.S. Magistrate Judge William Catoe ordered Monday that Bruce Windsor be evaluated at a federal facility for up to 45 days.

Windsor faces federal robbery and state kidnapping charges.

Prosecutors say he entered Greenville First Bank with a gun and mask, then forced two women into an office and demanded they fill two boxes with money.

Windsor gave up peacefully and released the hostages uninjured after a 90-minute standoff.

Windsor’s family has said the real estate broker and father of four had no criminal record and snapped because of financial problems.
