Authorities have filed a murder charge against the driver of a sports car that crashed into a Greenville home, killing a man watching television inside.

The Greenville News reports that 36-year-old John Ludwig Jr. was arrested without incident Wednesday morning.

In filing the murder charge, prosecutor Bob Ariail claimed that Ludwig was driving his Maserati at least 85 mph when the car left the road and slammed into the house.

The accident killed 62-year-old Frederic William Bardsley. Ludwig suffered minor injuries.

Ludwig’s lawyer, Billy Wilkins, has said his client is devastated by what happened.
