Court allows Sanford to make stimulus case

South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford will get a chance to argue his side of the fight over stimulus money to the state Supreme Court.
Sanford’s lawyers earlier had declined file papers in case that will be argued Thursday but Wednesday filed to take part in the case. The Supreme Court agreed.
A Chapin High School senior and University of South Carolina law student are suing to try to force Sanford to request $700 million in federal bailout cash for the state’s schools. Sanford wants the money used to reduce state debt.
The court also said it was presuming that Sanford’s lawyers wouldn’t then try to have that case pulled from the state court.
Sanford’s lawyers Tuesday asked to have a federal court handle a second Supreme Court case.
