Clerk shoots at robber in Anderson County

A clerk fought back against a robber who he says tried to hold up his store. Deputies are still trying to find the robber.

Anderson County Deputies say this happened at the Sunoco store near the Intersection of Highway 76 and Milliwee Creek Road in the Sandy Springs Community.

Al Befekadu owns that business, and says a man walked in and put a gun in his face demanding all of his money.

Befekadu told him he’d get it, but then pulled out his own gun and shot into the air scaring the robber off.

In an interview with our Upstate sister station, News Channel 7, the owner said he got his own weapon after the store was robbed in July.

Al Befekadu said, “They need to get their own money, not rob people.  I work 18 hours a day, to raise my own family, so i don’t have to be a burden to anybody.  Then these people come in and they rob.  This has got to stop.  This is terrorism right here at home”.

Authorities in Anderson County arrested a group of people for the July robbery. Investigators tell News Channel 7 they were connected to that string of robberies we told you about back in the summer across Anderson County.
