Fall rally costs Myrtle Beach $37,000 police OT

The fall motorcycle rally in Myrtle Beach cost the city about $37,000 for overtime for police officers.

Organizers of the rally and city officials say it appears attendance at the four-day rally was down compared with last year. That comes after the city enacted 15 ordinances designed to minimize the negatives effects on the community, particularly during the two rallies each May.

Despite the reported smaller attendance, police said they had more than 1,500 calls for service, the highest number in five years for the fall rally. The police department said 227 people were arrested, the lowest number in five years.

I feel sorry for the biker-friendly businesses trapped inside the Myrtle Beach city limits
