Wireless video network keeps people safe and in-touch

It’s a video camera pointed at a fish tank.  Or in this case, a camera pointed at the front door.  Vue is out to make an online video network portable and simple.

“With our system you simply plug the gateway into your home router, place the cameras around your home, and go online,“ says company representative, Dan Gilbert.

Home video networks are nothing new, but today they’re getting smarter, cheaper, and wireless.

“You just peel off this little sticker, place anywhere, and place the camera.  That’s how simple it is.  You can move that camera around.  You can take it off, install it other places and move the camera,“ demonstrates Gilbert.

Cities around the country are using video cameras for security, from sidewalks to busses.  That’s definitely one use for a system like this.

Gilbert says, “And once you have them placed around your home, you can go online, look at any browser, any PC or laptop and see your family, your home, whatever you like too look at.“

But this system lets you link with friends and their cameras.  As password keeps it private or allows you to share the view, whether a special event or simply a family pet.

“A lot of people have pets and they want to see what their pets are doing when they’re not there, and often they’re not worried about the pet, they’re just curious about what the pet is doing,“ says Gilbert.

The vue system comes with two cameras and runs 300 dollars with free access for 12 months.  After that, it’s just 20 bucks a year.  You can add multiple cameras and they are extremely portable, but they only offer color video, no sound.
