Blackberry, Nokia, LG, and Samsung…All fighting to keep relevant in an Apple iPhone world.
Kevin McAllister of San Diego Wireless says, “I think that the iPhone brings up the level of the field all the way around. It creates more interest, more demand for all kinds of devices.“
Kevin Mcallister of San Diego Wireless sells all sorts of cell phones including the iPhone. Is it the best?
“If it’s surfing the internet and sending email, it’s one of the top two or three. if it’s for making phone calls, not necessarily,“ says McAllister.
But the iPhone creates a stir every time a new version comes out casting a huge shadow over the competition.
“The whole world doesn’t begin and end at iPhones,“ says McAllister.
But the iPhone is having a major impact on how the competition is designing its own phones…From form, to applications, to a touch screen.
“And people are becoming more educated shoppers because they look at the features of an iPhone and then they just kind of compare that to other phones just to see whose phones match up,“ says Mcallister.
And right now, the iPhone is a tough nut to crack. It’s popularity is sometimes based more on style than substance.
McAllister says, “You can’t really say the iPhone or any phone is the best phone on the market, the best phone is what’s best for you.“
McAllister says 38 percent of all cell phones sold this month in the United States were Apple iPhones.
But even with that impressive number, McAllister estimates that only four or five percent of all cell phones on the street come from Apple.
