There is no question that Tropical Storm Hannah posed a serious threat to the us last weekend.
Live Viper and the National Weather Service all indicated that Hannah’s path had the potential to make landfall in Charleston.
In the end, we were sparred Hannah’s wrath
But when she didn’t hit,
News 2 received several complaints from viewers accusing us of “crying wolf” or “hyping the Storm”
Can you be over-prepared for life threatening potential?
We don’t think so. Not when people and homes are at risk.
We have a responsibility at News 2 to keep you informed of Dangerous weather even potentially dangerous weather. So that you can make decisions to protect your family
We take that responsibility seriously.
I’d rather deal with a few complaints from people who just don’t get it than to deal with the repercussions of being unprepared.
Tomorrow Morning, Hurricane Ike, a very powerful storm will hit Texas. And I can assure you that the media there will take the same precautions that News 2 did to ensure the safety of their viewing public.
I’m Rick Lipps and that’s my two cents…
