2 Cents - Ronald McDonald House

The Ronald McDonald House of Charleston is a home away from home for the families of seriously ill children. Many of these families are visiting Charleston because their loved one is undergoing treatment at nearby Hospitals. Over 90 percent of the families who have stayed in the house have children who are in the intensive care unit and more than half of the families have to return to the hospital for repeat treatments or surgeries.

The goal of this organization is to help alleviate the financial burden and stress of costly hotel accommodations and to provide a caring, loving environment so that these families can live as normally as possible during their difficult time.

As the economic crisis continues to tighten our purse strings don’t let it cut away the ones to your heart. Do we need to be conservative? Sure we do. Should we cut back on our expenses? Of course. But we should not forget about the needs of our community in the process. Organization like the Ronald McDonald house, the united way, the Carolina children’s charity and many more depend heavily on our support and contributions. If you have to cut back, then cut back but please don’t cut out completely. You never know when you or your loved ones may need the help of one of our local organizations…

I’m Rick Lipps, and that’s my two cents.
