Financial meltdowns, bailouts, credit crisis, recession, depression..
These are the headlines we hear everyday now.
We get it, our economy is in trouble.
So, what can we do to help turn it around?
Well the holiday shopping season is upon us. Instead of traveling out of town or shopping online, consider buying your gifts locally..
By buying locally we keep and re-circulate more money in our own community. This act alone helps to foster more local jobs, AND purchasing locally helps grow other businesses as well as the local tax base, studies have shown that for every 100 dollars spent at a locally owned business, 45 dollars goes back into the community.
In addition to that buying locally is a green initiative and benefits our environment by cutting down on the fuel used for transportation and materials used for shipping.
Come to think of it, there really aren’t many reasons not to buy locally this holiday season.
I’m Rick Lipps and that’s my two cents..
