President Obama addresses his first 100 days

President Barack Obama is giving himself good marks after 100 days in office.

Obama was cautiously upbeat in a prime-time news conference last night, saying he’s “off to a good start” but adding that much remains to be done to roll back the recession.

He thanked Congress for passing his budget yesterday to bolster his economic plans.

Much of the news conference was about other things. Obama said he believes the waterboarding approved by President George W. Bush was torture. And he says he’s convinced America could have gotten the information it needed to protect itself from terrorists some other way.

He’s also confident Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal won’t fall into the hands of extremists.
