Obama to unveil economic team
Published: November 24, 2008
With the broken economy by far the issue that mattered most to voters on Election Day, President-elect Barack Obama today formally unveils his team of economic experts to help
fix things.
We’ve known since Friday that Obama plans to name New York Fed chief Timothy Geithner his new treasury secretary. One of Obama’s top advisers, David Axelrod, tells Fox News Sunday “By
temperament and experience he’s the right man” to lead the department. Axelrod also says Geithner has been consistently “ahead of the curve” on the financial meltdown, being among the
first to warn about the dangers of lax regulation.
Former Clinton Treasury chief Lawrence Summers will be tapped to be the head of the National Economic Council.
Obama aides are calling on lawmakers to pass legislation by the January 20th inauguration that meets Obama’s two-year goal of saving or creating 2.5 million jobs.
