It is the another first for the Obama Adminstration.  A South Carolina native becomes the first African American woman confirmed to the Federal Communications Commission.
Mingnon Clyburn, nominated by President Obama, will serve on the commission for the next 5 years.
The former South Carolina Public Service Commissioner and as a newspaper publisher, is the daughter of House Majority Whip James Clyburn.
Clyburn told me today she can not comment on the confirmation but says that her swearing-in will be in Columbia Monday, August 3rd at the Sol Blatt Building.  The Commission is responsible for regulating interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite and cable.
