Biden: Important to enforce North Korean Sanctions
Published: June 14, 2009
Vice President Joe Biden says it’s important that the U.S. and other nations make sure that the latest U.N. penalties stick against North Korea.
He says it’s now a matter of keeping the pressure up on the reclusive communist country.
The new U.N. sanctions are aimed at depriving the North of the financing used to build its nuclear program.
A new U.N. resolution also authorizes searches of North Korean ships suspected of transporting illicit ballistic missile and nuclear materials.
Biden says there’s no way to guess the motives of North Korean leader Kim Jong Il.
Biden was interviewed Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press.“
