UAW president hoping Congress passes rescue plan

The president of the United Auto Workers says he is hopeful that Congress will pass a rescue plan this week for the country’s troubled car companies.
   
Ron Gettelfinger says he fears an impending collapse of General Motors and Chrysler and that immediate government help is necessary. Gettelfinger says something needs to get done this week in Washington to help save the domestic industry.
   
Lawmakers are trying to finalize a $15 billion aid package for the companies. Democratic congressional aides are working through the weekend to hammer out details. Votes on the plan are expected this coming week.
   
Gettelfinger appeared on ABC’s “This Week.“
