The nation’s capitol was the focus of Tuesday’s inaugural festivities.
But the party stretched outside the bounds of Washington.
Across the country millions celebrated as President Barack Obama took the oath of office.
The excitement and emotions of this special day, poured out of Washington and across the country.
From New York to L.A. and most every place in-between, millions paused to watch and celebrate.
For students in Sarasota, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia it was a living lesson in history.
For so many others though this day and this man marked the culmination of an historic struggle.
It is a long way from Washington but the impact of the inauguration may have been as strong in Selma, Alabama as it was anywhere.
This tiny town was at the center of the civil rights fight in the 60’s.
Dr. Martin Luther King marched in Selma and his words still echo today.
Decades later for a new generation it is becoming reality.
The inauguration of the 44th president of the United States, Barack obama, fulfilling that dream.
