Some Massachusett High school students will be subject to breathalyzers in class

Some Massachusetts high school students will soon be subject to alcohol breath tests at school.

While it’s not uncommon for schools to test students at the prom, the school committee informally agreed to a new high school plan that allows breathalyzer tests during the school day.

The tests will be given to students suspected of drinking by school teachers and administrators.

“We hope not to use it at all quite frankly, but I would anticipate using it minimally,“ said Jeffrey Theodoss, Principal of Foxborough High School.

The device will be on hand at school and during after school events and activities.

“I think it’s wonderful,“ said Lori Connell, a parent.

A formal vote will take place in about two weeks and the policy will take effect soon after.
