Saucy cookbook

They call themselves the Beach Bums.

These “mature” ladies are heating things-up in a “steamy” new cookbook from Cape May, New Jersey.
They are saucy and not afraid to show some skin.

“We’re hoping they think we’re a little naughty but nice,“ said cookbook model Judy Lord.

They’re the Beach Bums of Cape May.

A group of grannies from the usually prim and proper Victorian City whose new cookbook is hot off the presses.

“Heat up your kitchen, spice up your life and that’s what we’re trying to do here,“ said Lord.

This is the same bunch that made waves with their racy calendars for charity the last couple years.

“It shows off more,“ said model Audrey Conant.

Now, they’re at it again, this time revealing their recipes, 36 of them, while appearing to bare all in local kitchens, outside the supermarket, even in the meat section.

“I did a little bit of photo shopping,“ Lord said.

The age range for these mature models: 55 to 83.

“We’re fun too. I mean, we’re not dead yet,“ said cookbook model Leigh Ann Austin.

The ladies say the real reason for this is not just to raise eyebrows, but rather to raise money for a cause that’s close to their hearts.

“Everybody says, oh you mis-spelled ‘wonderful.‘ well, we didn’t,‘“ said Austin.

The “u” in Wunderful is for Robbie Wunder, the 18-year-old the cookbook supports.

He became a paraplegic in a swimming pool accident last year.

His grandmother Maxine is featured with flour on page 11.

“I appreciate all the help that everyone has given. They’ve been very kind,“ said model Maxine Wunder.

The $10.00 cookbook is available by mail.

“It’s fun. I’m glad my mother’s not in it,“ said Barbara Gruver who manages a cooking supply store.

The beach bums swear they actually were wearing bathing suits.

So will we see them sizzling in print again?

Possibly, but the ladies won’t reveal what ideas they’re cooking up for their next spread.
