TOBYHANNA, Pa. (AP) - Pennsylvania State Police say one of two troopers wounded in a shootout after a high-speed chase in the Pocono Mountains has died at a hospital.

Police said Monday that 34-year-old Trooper Joshua Miller died at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown.

Police say Miller and Trooper Robert Lombardo were shot Sunday night during an exchange of gunfire with a man who kidnapped a 9-year-old boy. The suspect was also killed, but the boy wasn’t shot.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police Chief Harry Lewis says the chase began outside Easton and ended about 40 miles away in Coolbaugh Township, Monroe County.

Thirty-five-year-old Lombardo is listed in satisfactory condition at Community Medical Center in Scranton.
