Two Ohio Head Start preschool workers are finally free, 15 years after they were wrongly convicted of sexually abusing young children.

On Wednesday a judge in northeast Ohio tossed out the convictions of 52-year-old former Head Start bus driver Nancy Smith and 56-year-old Joseph Allen.

The Lorain County Common Pleas Court Judge says there was not enough evidence presented at the trial to convict the two.

Smith was accused of driving 4 and 5 year-old children to Allen’s home where he allegedly abused them.

“I thought i’d go to trial and be proven innocent and i’ll go home from there that’s exactly what I thought would happen,” said Smith.

Both Smith and Allen were in jail since 1994 but were freed on bond last year when the judge agreed to review the case.
