An elderly West Virginia woman survived incredible odds thanks to the speedy work of rescue crews.

Nettie Brooks of Moorefield, West Virginia is 101 years old, and was locked out of her home all Tuesday night.

Her family says she took out the trash, then couldn’t get back into her house.

She even tried breaking her storm door, but still couldn’t get inside.

She was outside for about 12 hours, and temperatures dipped low at 18 degrees.

Rescue crews found her around 8:00 Wednesday morning.

She was suffering from hypothermia and was barely responsive.

Brooks was flown to Cumberland Memorial Hospital by a Maryland State Police helicopter.

She was in critical condition, and it was urgent that she receive the proper medical care as soon as possible.

Brooks’ family says she’s recovering and they hope she’ll be released from the hospital soon.
