Naval Weapons Station Charleston holding terror drill Monday

The Naval Weapons Station Charleston wants the public to be aware of a large scale terrorist attack drill on Monday.

According to a news release, the NWS, along with seveal agencies will hold a disaster accident/incident drill from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m.

This is only a drill, and they want to make sure the public is aware.

All traffic on the Naval Weapons Station, including Red Bank Road, will be restricted to personnel with US government identification and all vehicles will be inspected.

Security personnel will put barricades on Red Bank road at the intersection of Red Bank road and Pomflant Access road and at Red Bank road and Bushy Park road.

The exercise will be restricted to the Naval Weapons Station. This training will allow personnel from the base, as well as agencies from local, county, state and federal agencies to demonstrate and train their ability to react to a disaster.

Scheduled to participate in the exercise are Berkeley County Emergency Preparedness Department; Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office; Berkeley County Emergency Medical Service; Goose Creek City Police and Fire Departments; and Berkeley County COBRA Team (Chemical, Ordnance, Biological, Radiological, Assessment)
