EXCLUSIVE: Videos from inside Charleston Brig prison cell of admitted terrorist Ali al-Marri

In videos obtained exclusively by News 2, you can see the isolation that Defense Intelligence Agency officials imposed on Ali al-Marri during more than five years at the Charleston Brig.

al-Marri admitted to attending terrorist training camps, and to meeting with 9/11 planners before the attacks. al-Marri also said he came to America on a mission days before the attacks.

In the series of videos, taken from what attorneys say are thousands of hours of tape, al-Marri is seen in his cell, being escorted through the brig, and getting medical care. His cell consisted of a metal rack for a bed, a toilet and sink. There are some videos in which there is a blanket, and some with a blanket and pillow.

al-Marri’s attorney, Andy Savage showed News 2 the log which directed brig guards to keep al-Marri isolated, not to answer questions, to take away his glasses and Quran.

The videos also show the treatment of al-Marri by brig staff, which Savage praised. He said brig guards treated al-Marri with dignity.

Earlier this week a judge sentenced Ali al-Marri to eight years in prison. The judge said he took al-Marri’s isolation, and what he saw on these tapes into account when deciding to not impose the maximum sentence.

Wow! Good job Andy Savage! Hope you are proud of your work! U.S. Defense attorneys uphold their great name once again. 8 years, can we get some of the widows of the firefighters to weigh in on this?
