About 30 airmen from a South Carolina Air Force base are taking part in an international airlift competition among 100 military teams from allied nations.
The group from Charleston Air Force Base leaves Friday for the weeklong contest at McChord Air Force Base in Washington state.
Air Force officials say teams from the 437th and 315th Airlift Wings have been practicing for the competition for several months.
The competition features air drops, aerial refueling and cargo delivery operations. It also includes tests of military security forces, aerial port operators, medical evacuation and maintenance personnel.
In the 2007 competition, Charleston’s teams brought home several trophies.
