The editorial boards of the three largest newspapers in South Carolina have all endorsed Republican John McCain for president.

The Post and Courier of Charleston backed McCain in its Sunday editions. The State of Columbia and The Greenville News endorsed the Arizona senator last month.

The Charleston newspaper says McCain has frequently taken bold stands against his party’s leaders on issues like illegal immigration and what constitutes torturing terror suspects.

The paper says McCain also would be a check against what will likely be a liberal Congress.

The newspaper says it admires Democratic nominee Barack Obama’s ability to inspire, but says the Illinois senator lacks experience.
