South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford held a news conference across the street from Senator Thomas’ law offices in Greenville, Thursday morning. He questioned the motives for travel investigation.

Thomas said Monday that the governor illegally flew overseas, in business class seats, despite a rule requiring officials to fly at the cheapest rate.

In his comments Thursday, Sanford accused Thomas of trying to build name recognition for a run at a congressional seat.
