Sanford will hold a media availability at 3:30pm today to respond to the calls for his resignation. Counton2.com will carry the news conference live.

South Carolina Lt. Governor Andre Bauer called for Governor Sanford to resign during a news conference at noon Wednesday.

Bauer said he was calling on politicians to join him to political interests aside and do what is best for the state.

News 2’s Carmen Coursey asked State Education superintendet Jim Rex what he thought.  Rex says the Governor would be doing the state a favor to resign. Rex also says he’s waiting until after Labor Day to make an announcement on whether he’s running for governor.

Governor Sanford dodging questions on possible ethics probe

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford refuses to say if he would let investigators release information on a possible ethics probe of his travel.

Sanford continued Tuesday to avoid answering whether he would allow findings to become public.

The state Ethics Commission has been asked to look into Sanford’s travel, but the probe is confidential unless the governor says otherwise.

The governor has come under scrutiny since he revealed a yearlong affair in June.

Associated Press investigations have found Sanford used state planes for personal and political use and failed to disclose trips on private planes. A state senator has accused Sanford of breaking the law by using pricey commercial airplane tickets.

The governor has said he did nothing wrong.

Jeff Sharlet lived at C Street House and wrote a book on his experiences there. It is a real eye opener as to what is going on with Sanford, DeMint and others. Read this article he wrote or better yet, educate yourself and others by reading the book. For democracy loving Americans, this is scary stuff. http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2009/07/21/c_street/

Sanford will never resign. He is supported by the C-Street House Family. They, and Sanford, believe they have been picked by god to do great things. Sanford is waiting for gods intervntion to save him. "The Family" does not believe ordinary laws apply to them. They are answering a higher calling. This explains his stand on the stimulus money he was so against and why he stands alone from the state legislature. He believes he is god"s messenger. Sanford isn't alone in these beliefs. DeMint is also a memeber of "The Family". He has the same views. His and "The Family" have a different interpretation of the bible then you do. These are in fact dangerous men who have no love for democracy. http://www.salon.com/news/feature/200...

It sounds to me that he is campaigning to make his case and to separate himself from Gov. Sanford to better his chances in 2010.
