Ex-convicts and voting

The American Civil Liberties Union has been looking at how state election officials interpret laws that allow ex-convicts to vote.
The ACLU and South Carolina Progressive Network at a news conference Wednesday will release survey results involving county election officials.
State law allows people who have served time to vote once they’ve completed their sentence.
But that law is often misunderstood and many ex-felons think they are forever barred from voting.
