Demint, Graham differ on bailout

South Carolina’s senators are on different sides of the financial rescue package being pushed to ease a financial meltdown on Wall Street.
U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint said in an NBC interview Wednesday that the fix being offered won’t cure what’s wrong. U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham told reporters in a conference call that doing nothing would lead to a financial catastrophe where people couldn’t find money to borrow for homes or college.
DeMint says it is better to address longer-term economic problems with things like tax breaks.
Graham says the $700 billion plan as proposed would give Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson too much power and he wants to make sure financial company leaders don’t walk away richer.
