The sale will take place at 1650 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard in the Village Square Shopping Center (formerly The Map Room) from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.  A sneak preview will be held Friday afternoon from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. for those who want a jump start. The entry fee for the pre-sale is $2 per person.  Books of all shapes, sizes and content, as well as CDs, DVDs and other electronic media are available. All are priced for quick sale. Cash and checks only will be accepted.

“We hope the community will show their support for literacy and buy lots of books,” said Kevin Smith, Co-chair of Trident Literacy’s Board of Directors. “This will help us in our quest to improve literacy in the Lowcountry.”

Book donations may be brought to the sale location August 17-20, 9am-4pm, or to any of Trident Literacy’s six locations in the tri-county. “We are deeply grateful to Ellen Hoffman, Barry Hoffman and Norman Nirenblatt of Hoffman Realty Company, for donating the use of the Map Room location in Village Square for the week of the sale,” said Eileen Chepenik, Trident Literacy’s Executive Director. “The sale would not have been possible without their generosity.”

The Lowcountry Book Burning is Trident Literacy’s campaign to raise awareness of the crisis of illiteracy in our community, where one in seven adults are functionally illiterate, and to raise money to keep its life-saving programs operating
