Charleston County students headed back to school this morning. News 2's Octavia Mitchell takes us on a tour of the new Jerry Zucker Middle School of Science in North Charleston.The Charleston County School District will hold a grand opening ceremony for the brand new Jerry Zucker Middle School of Science, Monday.
About 400 people are expected, including Zucker’s widow Anita, Mayor Keith Summey, and Superintendent Nancy McGinley.
Making the day extra special, today would have been the late philanthropist’s 60th birthday.
Zucker Middle boasts 92,000 square feet of space, with smart boards in every classroom. The school sits on 28.3 acres of land in North Charleston, on Dorchester Road.
