Winter commencement returns to Charleston campus

For the first time in recent memory, winter commencement at the College of Charleston is being held on campus.
   
Saturday’s commencement will be the first in the college’s new 5,000-seat Carolina First Center. Ceremonies have been held at the North Charleston Coliseum in recent years.
   
The Cougar basketball teams began playing in the new arena last month.
   
College spokesman Mike Robertson says winter commencements will now be held on campus and the new arena will also be the rain location for the college’s spring commencement, which is traditionally held outside.
