UPDATE: 2nd-grader surpasses fundraising goal
» 1 Comment | Post a Comment

Last week News 2 introduced you to a young boy putting his own medical condition to the side to help others.

Second-grader Mathew Chase asked his teachers and fellow students at Hunley Park Elementary to help him raise $2,000 for the MUSC Children’s Hospital.

Mathew did that and then some.  The school fundraiser nearly hit the $3000 mark bringing in a total of $2,957.33.

Mathew was born with only the right side of his heart, a condition known as hypo plastic heart, but he wanted to help other children in need.

All of us at News 2 congratulate him on the success.

Hi Tara...We are so happy for Mathew being able to surpass his goal..He's been through so much himself, and has learned at an early age what it is like to "give back". We feel sure that your coverage of this story had a lot to do with his success..We are glad we had a chance to help also..God Bless !!! Didi
