The FCC says the most common problem people call their hotline with is that their D-TV converter box doesn’t pick up all the channels they expect.
The typical solution to this problem is tuning or programming your box to receive all the available digital channels. This can usually be done by selecting a “menu” function on your converter box remote, then select something like “auto program” or “auto tune.“
If your TV has a built in digital receiver you may still need to follow these steps to tune in the digital channels. Make sure you select “antenna” instead of “cable” or another input first.
Unlike analog television channels on digital will not appear fuzzy if the signal is too weak, they will not be there at all. The problem may be that you either have too weak of an antenna or it is pointing in the wrong direction.
To find out how powerful an antenna your home needs to get the channels available in your area visit the website http://www.antennaweb.org
The site will ask you to fill in your address then it will list what channels are available and how strong the signal is, which will indicate how powerful an antenna you need to buy. The site also can tell you which direction to turn your antenna for a particular TV station.
If you have more question the 24-hour D-TV hotline is 1-800-CALL-FCC
