A South Carolina trooper is not guilty of depriving a suspect of his civil rights by using unreasonable force. This afternoon a jury acquitted Lance Cpl. Steven Garren.

Garren struck a fleeing suspect, Marvin Grant with his cruiser in June of 2007. Prosecutors tried to proce he deliberately tried to hit Grant with his car.

They showed jurors a video of the collision and the trooper bragging about the incident.  After deliberation, the jury decided to acquit Garren of the charge.
