Local leaders joined Senator Lindsey Graham to announce the governments re-funding of Project Seahawk.
Graham said SLED Director Reggie Lloyd is largely responsible for securing the $800,000 grant to keep the project going. He also heaped praise upon Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano for what Graham called a commitment to securing our port.
That money will get the project through the end of the next fiscal year. The next goal, according Graham, is to secure funding forever, and to expand throughout the country.
The loss of this program would have been a monumental hit to Charleston, South Carolina, and more importantly the country.
