Thanksgiving travel at Charleston International airport
According to Triple-A more than four million people will travel by air to visit loved ones for the Thanksgiving holiday. That’s a seven-percent decrease from travelers who flew last year.
A light stream of travelers made their way through the Charleston International Airport on the eve of Thanksgiving, which lead to short to no lines at all. An airport employee tells News 2, she has not seen it this light in eight years.
Travelers we talked to said they expected to see more people and say the economy did impact their decision to fly, but special deals on ticket prices helped them to afford the trip. Natalia Cales is heading to New York. She says, “I was very hesitant. I went on line to purchase some tickets got it abut a month ago under 300 dollars.“ Ali Glisson from Kentucky says, “I was wondering how it will be on the way over here. I thought it would be pretty busy.“
The South East is expected to have the highest number of air travelers.
