Swine flu prompts questions about public transportation
Over 12,000 riders board CARTA’s fleet of buses on a daily basis. With the spread of swine flu many are concerned about being in confined areas where germs can be transferred easily.
Officials from the Center for Disease Control want people to use caution but do not discourage the use of public transportation. CARTA says that their buses are completely safe.
CARTA has seen no drop-off in ridership due to flu concerns. Each bus is disinfected and mopped down on a daily basis to help prevent the spread of germs. Officials are asking riders to carry hand sanitizer to use after coming in contact with any public spaces where germs could be spread.
