I just went into the Summerville high school polling location.  There are 3 precincts voting here, and all 3 are at or near 50% voter turnout.

One of the polling managers, Darlene told me the Tupperway precinct now has 47.5% of the eligible voters voting.  She said the precinct has approximately 1500 voters total.

Peggy at the Greenwave precinct says her precinct has 35-36% so far.  There are 2000-2100 voters in this precinct. She said when they showed up at 5:30AM, there was already a long line of voters waiting for the 7AM opening.

I’m told the third precinct is now at 51% turnout.  That is 51% of approximately 2800 voters.

Darlene and Peggy tell me they usually get 200 or so voters total for a primary election, but even for a general election, this is incredible turnout.

I’m headed off toward other Dorchester/Berkeley county polls…  Follow me also at http://www.twitter.com/news2. I’ll be tweeting all day.
