African Americans in Charleston are more optimistic than the city’s general population that their financial situation will improve over the next year. However, most say they don’t have a financial game plan and many don’t know where to start, according to a new survey commissioned by The Smiley Group and Nationwide Insurance®. Tavis Smiley is holding free financial and retirement planning sessions on October 24 at the Charleston Convention Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is open to the public; program starts at 10 a.m. Eastern time, doors open at 9 a.m. Eastern time.
