Shopping for the Lowest Gas Prices
Gas Price Hunting
Gas Price HuntingMost of you woke up to another spike in gas prices Saturday morning after speculation over how long oil rigs in the gulf will stay shut down from Hurricane Ike.
It takes time and money to search for the lowest prices, so News Two drove up and down the roads most of you travel to find the stations with the lowest prices.
A few stations on North Goose Creek Boulevard are charging about $3.89 a gallon for regular gas, but if you drive less than half a mile down the road you can save as much as 20 cents a gallon.
The lowest price we found driving around the tri-county area—$3.69 a gallon at the shell station on north Goose Creek Boulevard.
“I’ll find the cheapest gas I can but I’m not going out of my way. Wherever I’m going, that’s where I’ll get my gas,” Carole Pearce told News Two.
We found the same price at this BP station in Summerville at the corner of Trolley Road and Midlin Park.
In Mount Pleasant the lowest was $3.71 at the corner of Highway 17 and 41.
Still some prices spiked to nearly the same as a gallon of milk—3.99 at a station at the base of the bridge on Highway 17 in Mount Pleasant.
“I definitely keep and eye on where the lowest price is. Generally I try to get gas close to my home, but when the price starts going up, I start looking around,” explained David Frederick.
