The South Carolina State Ports Authority is getting a new CEO.

The organization’s board is expected to name a chief executive to replace Bernard S. Groseclose Jr. when it meets Tuesday.

Groseclose served as CEO for a dozen years before resigning last January to pursue other interests.

Longtime authority board member John F. Hassell III took Groseclose’s job temporarily.

Groseclose headed the agency during the protracted controversy over plans to build a $1.2 billion Global Gateway shipping terminal on Daniel Island.

Opposition resulted in state lawmakers directing the agency to build a smaller $545 million terminal at the old Charleston Naval Base.
