Police say they are sending human remains found in Horry County to Texas for a second round of lab tests to see if they belong to a South Carolina woman missing for more than six years

Police say researchers at the University of South Carolina were unable to extract any DNA from the small bone fragments, so the remains and DNA samples from Alice Donovan’s family are being sent to the University of North Texas.

Police say the Health Sciences Center there has had a better success rate extracting DNA from such remains. Investigators say results could take about a month.

One of the two men on death row for killing Donovan directed searchers to the remains in January.

The Galivants Ferry woman was last seen in the parking lot of the Conway Wal-Mart in November 2002.
